Fort Worth, TX – The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a Freeze Watch across much of North and Central Texas, warning that temperatures could dip as low as 26°F late Sunday night into Monday morning.

The alert includes the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, as well as cities such as Waco, Denton, Paris, McKinney, Corsicana, and Gainesville. According to forecasters, the freeze watch will remain in effect from Sunday evening through Monday morning.

The NWS notes that this freeze could mark the end of the growing season, as frost and subfreezing air threaten to kill crops, damage sensitive vegetation, and burst unprotected outdoor pipes. Residents are urged to wrap exposed plumbing, bring pets indoors, and cover or move plants ahead of Sunday night’s temperature drop.

This will likely be the first widespread hard freeze of the season for North Texas, following several mild November days. Meteorologists say the cold front could bring temperatures in the mid-20s across rural and low-lying areas, while urban centers may bottom out near freezing.
