Fort Worth, Texas – North Texas residents caught a break from the usual August swelter, with high temperatures across Dallas-Fort Worth and Waco trending cooler than average for much of the month.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, DFW logged 11 days with below-normal high temperatures and 10 days that landed in the “near normal” range, with only 10 days climbing above the seasonal average. The most significant cooldown occurred late in the month, when daily highs dropped as much as 14.2°F below average.

Waco followed a similar trend, with 10 days below normal and just five above. The standout drop came on the 29th, when highs plummeted to 13.7°F below normal—bringing welcome relief to a region where August highs typically hover between 94 and 98°F.

This cooler pattern helped minimize heat-related impacts across the region, with fewer ozone action days and less strain on the power grid. Officials recommend residents stay weather-aware, as September often brings rapid swings in temperature and potential for early fall storms.
