Bismarck, ND – A widespread Freeze Warning remains in effect early Monday, October 13, across much of the Northern Plains and Intermountain West, as a surge of cold air drives overnight temperatures into the 20s and low 30s.

According to the National Weather Service, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Idaho are all under freeze alerts through midmorning. In North Dakota, temperatures in the mid-20s are expected from McKenzie to Logan Counties, with similar cold in Campbell, Dewey, and Corson Counties of South Dakota. The Rapid City area could see lows near 22°F, while Buffalo and Belle Fourche dip even lower.

Further west, eastern Idaho and north-central Wyoming, including Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Worland, and Buffalo, will see freezing temperatures between 25°F and 32°F before sunrise. Forecasters warn that the cold will kill unprotected crops and damage sensitive vegetation, signaling the end of the growing season in several areas.

Residents are advised to cover outdoor plants, drain irrigation systems, and protect exposed plumbing from frost damage.
