Fargo, ND – The National Weather Service has issued Wind Advisories across much of North Dakota, South Dakota, and western Minnesota, warning of strong southerly winds that could cause travel difficulties and scattered power outages Sunday.
The advisories are in effect from 9 AM to 5 PM CDT Sunday for communities including Fargo, Bismarck, Jamestown, Aberdeen, Sisseton, Grand Forks, Valley City, and Wahpeton.
According to the NWS offices in Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Aberdeen, winds are expected to range from 25–35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph possible at times — particularly in open and elevated areas.
Forecasters caution that loose outdoor items such as trash bins or decorations could be blown around, and high-profile vehicles may experience difficult driving conditions on east–west highways. A few tree limbs or power lines may also be brought down, potentially leading to isolated power outages.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, check travel routes before leaving, and use caution while driving Sunday morning and afternoon. Winds are expected to diminish Sunday evening as the weather system moves eastward.
