Annandale, VA – Drivers across Northern Virginia could face reduced visibility Saturday morning as patchy fog blankets the area before a stretch of hot, sunny weather continues through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, patchy fog will linger through 5 a.m. Saturday, with temperatures quickly rising to a high near 89°F under mostly sunny skies. Calm overnight winds will pick up slightly out of the east at 3 to 6 mph. Sunday brings more sunshine and heat with highs reaching 92°F.

Southwest winds may pick up slightly by Sunday night, keeping overnight lows in the low 70s. While the weekend stays mostly dry, a weak system will bring a 20% chance of showers Monday afternoon. Highs Monday will hover near 85°F.

Those planning to be outdoors should stay hydrated and take breaks from the heat during peak afternoon hours. Fog may impact morning commutes, especially along I-495, Route 50, and in low-lying areas across Fairfax County.

Rain chances increase slightly by midweek, but no major storms are expected. Another update is expected Monday if rain threats increase.
