Baltimore, Maryland – Rain is continuing to impact Maryland and the D.C. metro right now, with wet roads and gusty winds expected to disrupt travel through the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, showers will persist throughout Friday as a cold front moves across the region. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph, especially during the afternoon, creating slick conditions along major corridors like I-95, I-495, and Route 50.

Temperatures will vary widely ahead of and behind the front. Some areas may briefly reach the upper 70s Friday afternoon, but cooler air quickly follows, dropping readings into the 50s by evening. Overnight, lows will fall sharply into the low 20s to mid-30s, raising concerns for a cold start Saturday morning.

Saturday brings a return to dry conditions with sunshine, but highs will stay limited to the mid-50s. By Sunday, a warming trend resumes, with highs climbing into the 60s across much of Maryland and northern Virginia.

Drivers should allow extra time during periods of rain Friday and remain cautious of gusty winds on bridges and open roadways.

Drier weather settles in this weekend, though the sharp temperature swings may continue into early next week.
