Wheaton, IL – In a recent court ruling, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Woodridge Acting Chief of Police Tom Stefanson announced that Judge Joshua Dieden has denied pre-trial release for 22-year-old Gevon Anderson of Crest Hill, accused of the murder of Ed Lewis in Woodridge last month.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, on April 23, Anderson allegedly shot Lewis multiple times on Country Club Drive, leading to the victim’s death from gunshot wounds. Authorities linked Anderson to the crime through DNA evidence on shell casings and surveillance video. Early morning the following day, law enforcement, including MERIT Task Force and local police, arrested Anderson, recovering multiple firearms, including 3D-printed guns.

The officials expressed deep condolences to Lewis’s family and highlighted the collaborative efforts of local and federal agencies in apprehending Anderson, who now faces charges of first-degree murder. His arraignment is set for May 21st.
