Crest Hill Fire Displaces Family, Lockport Firefighters Respond Swiftly

Crest Hill, IL — A fire on Tuesday afternoon left a Crest Hill family’s townhome uninhabitable, according to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District. Firefighters responded around 4:50 p.m. to a fire alarm at a residence in the 1400 block of Root Street. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke pouring from the second floor.

Lockport firefighters quickly contained the blaze, ensuring no injuries to the family inside. The home’s utilities were disconnected due to the fire damage, leaving it unsafe for occupancy. Mutual aid teams from Homer, Northwest Homer, and Plainfield supported Lockport’s crews during the response, stabilizing the situation swiftly.

Investigators from Lockport Fire and the Crest Hill Police Department are examining the cause of the fire. Fire officials have yet to determine if structural issues contributed to the blaze.
