Coudersport, PA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 1 p.m. Monday for Potter, Cameron and Clearfield counties as lake-effect snow continues to make travel hazardous across north-central Pennsylvania.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, Potter and Cameron counties can expect total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches by early afternoon, while Clearfield County may see up to 3 additional inches. Winds may gust as high as 35 mph in Clearfield, further reducing visibility during heavier bursts of snow.

Forecasters warn that travel conditions will be challenging through the morning commute, with slippery roads and rapidly changing visibility as lake-effect bands shift across the region. Communities including Coudersport, Emporium, Clearfield and DuBois may experience brief periods of heavier snowfall followed by lighter conditions just a few miles away.

The NWS notes that lake-effect snow bands can create sharp gradients in accumulation over short distances, meaning drivers may encounter sudden and significant changes in roadway conditions. Bridges, overpasses and rural stretches are especially prone to ice and compacted snow during early morning hours.

Residents are urged to slow down, use caution and give themselves extra time if they need to travel. Updated road conditions for Pennsylvania can be obtained by calling 511.

Snow showers are expected to taper later today as winds decrease and bands weaken, leading to gradually improving conditions heading into the afternoon.
