Corpus Christi, Texas – Strong storms are sweeping through South Texas this morning, with the National Weather Service issuing a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for over 1.7 million residents, including Corpus Christi, Victoria, Laredo, and McAllen. Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain are the primary threats, with the watch in effect until 8 a.m. CDT Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the greatest risk area includes the Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads region, where storms may continue into the early afternoon. Wind gusts may exceed 70 mph, and isolated tornadoes are also possible.

Cities such as Alice, Kingsville, and Beeville are under threat for severe morning storms, while later cells may redevelop through midday near George West and Goliad. Commuters should expect reduced visibility and possible debris on roadways.

Residents are urged to monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local TV updates, have shelter plans in place, and secure outdoor objects. If travel is necessary, use extreme caution, especially on I-37 and U.S. 77.

Storm activity is expected to taper off by late afternoon, though additional alerts may be issued as conditions evolve.
