Corpus Christi, Texas – Unseasonably warm weather will hold on across the Coastal Bend through the end of the workweek before a sharp cooldown and increasing rain chances arrive this weekend, bringing a noticeable shift in conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, highs will continue climbing into the lower to middle 80s through Friday, well above normal for early January. Inland locations such as Alice, Beeville, and Freer may push the mid to upper 80s, while coastal areas including Corpus Christi, Rockport, and Port Aransas remain slightly cooler thanks to onshore flow.

Rain chances begin to increase Friday, especially north and east of Corpus Christi, though coverage remains limited. A stronger front moves through this weekend, bringing a much cooler air mass and more widespread rain chances Saturday through Monday. Afternoon highs are expected to drop into the upper 50s and lower 60s, with overnight lows falling into the 40s across much of South Texas.

Periods of rain could impact weekend travel and outdoor plans, particularly along Highway 77, Highway 281, and coastal roadways. While severe weather is not expected, breezy conditions and cooler temperatures may add to the unsettled feel.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the warm weather while it lasts and prepare for cooler, wetter conditions by the weekend. Additional updates are expected as the timing of the front and rain chances become clearer.
