Corpus Christi, Texas – A surge of heavy rain could soak South Texas this weekend, with a growing risk of flooding as a cold front moves into the region by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, there is a 50 to 70 percent chance that many areas will receive more than 1 inch of rain between Saturday and Monday. Some locations have a 20 to 40 percent chance of exceeding 2 inches, raising concerns for localized flooding, especially Saturday night.

The heaviest rain is expected as the front pushes through late Saturday into early Sunday, impacting communities including Corpus Christi, Victoria, Laredo, and Kingsville. Roads such as I-37, Highway 77, and Highway 281 could see water accumulation during periods of heavier rainfall.

Soils across South Texas remain very dry, which may initially help absorb rainfall, but intense bursts could still overwhelm drainage systems and lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Residents are urged to monitor forecasts, avoid flooded roadways, and prepare for changing conditions through the weekend. Additional advisories or flood watches may be issued as confidence continues to increase.
