Corpus Christi, Texas – Blistering heat will grip South Texas again this weekend as temperatures surge into the triple digits, pushing the heat index as high as 107°F in some cities. Area beaches will see highs in the upper 80s and extreme UV levels, but the risk of rip currents remains low for swimmers and surfers.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, highs will reach 106°F Saturday and Sunday in towns like Alice, Laredo, and Victoria. Corpus Christi itself can expect daytime temperatures in the upper 90s to near 100°F, with nighttime lows staying warm in the 70s. Winds from the south will be around 10 mph, offering little relief from the humidity.

The heat will challenge outdoor workers, travelers, and families planning weekend activities. Rockport, Port Lavaca, and Beeville are under the same hot and mostly sunny spell, with UV indexes rated “extreme” through early next week. The NWS urges residents to avoid strenuous activities during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, and wear sun protection. Beachgoers should remember rip currents remain a hazard near piers and jetties—always swim parallel to shore if caught.

There’s no immediate hurricane threat, but officials recommend using this calm stretch to check emergency supplies and have a plan in place. Hot, humid conditions are expected to last through Wednesday, with only a slight chance of rain returning midweek.

Warnings remain in effect for extreme heat—expect continued updates from the NWS as conditions evolve.
