Corpus Christi, Texas – Dangerous heat will continue across South Texas this week as afternoon highs soar into the upper 90s and low 100s, with heat indices climbing to between 105 and 110. Scattered storms may bring some relief, but only after midweek when rain chances increase.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, isolated storms are possible Monday, with a stronger chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday across the Victoria Crossroads. By Wednesday and Thursday, the Coastal Plains and inland areas could see 20 to 50 percent rain coverage.

The combination of extreme heat and rising humidity will make outdoor work dangerous, particularly during peak afternoon hours. Officials urge residents to limit time outside, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers may open if conditions worsen.

Drivers in Nueces, Victoria, and San Patricio counties could encounter brief heavy downpours by midweek, lowering visibility on roadways. Power outages are possible if storms strengthen.

Dangerous heat remains the main concern, but storm activity may expand through Thursday. Additional advisories are expected if storm coverage grows.
