Corpus Christi, Texas – Another blast of dangerous heat grips South Texas this week, sending daily highs soaring above 100 degrees for much of the region and keeping communities on alert through Sunday. Heat indexes could make it feel even hotter, especially inland, where towns like Cotulla and Laredo expect afternoon temperatures topping 104°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, this heat wave will persist through at least Sunday, July 27, with only slim chances for relief. Western areas including Freer and Tilden are facing highs near 102°F, while Victoria and Rockport stay in the upper 90s. Coastal cities, including Corpus Christi and Port Lavaca, will see slightly lower temps in the low 90s but with oppressive humidity and extreme UV levels.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors. The Texas Department of Transportation warns that excessive heat can damage roadways and increase the risk of vehicle breakdowns—travelers should carry extra water and never leave children or pets in cars.

A few isolated showers and storms could develop by Friday or Saturday, offering brief cooling but also potential lightning and gusty winds. Beachgoers should monitor rip current risks, especially near Bob Hall Pier and Port Aransas.

Dangerous heat remains the top concern through the weekend, with advisories likely to continue. Stay tuned to local updates and be ready for possible thunderstorm alerts late in the week.
