Corpus Christi, Texas – Another blast of winter cold is expected to move into South Texas this weekend, bringing a return to freezing temperatures across the Coastal Bend and Brush Country starting Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, confidence is increasing that temperatures will fall to freezing or below late Saturday night, with the cold persisting through Monday morning. While it remains several days out, forecasters say the signal for a prolonged cold stretch is strong enough for residents to begin preparing now.
Communities across the Coastal Bend, including Corpus Christi, Rockport, Port Lavaca, Victoria, and Kingsville, could see overnight lows near or below 32 degrees. Farther inland across the northern Coastal Plains, wind chills could dip into the teens, with low 20s possible elsewhere during the coldest overnight periods. Daytime temperatures are expected to recover slowly, keeping mornings cold through the start of next week.
The return of freezing conditions could pose risks to sensitive vegetation, pets, and exposed pipes, especially in areas that rarely see extended cold. Officials urge residents to plan ahead by protecting outdoor plants, bringing pets indoors, and checking outdoor plumbing.
Forecasters caution that details may still shift as the weekend approaches. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates closely, as additional cold weather advisories or freeze alerts may be issued if confidence continues to increase.
