Corpus Christi, Texas – South Texas will see increasing rain chances this weekend as tropical moisture from Lorena in the East Pacific pushes into the region. Heaviest rainfall is expected along the Gulf Coast, with flooding possible in low-lying areas through Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the immediate coastline faces the greatest threat for significant rainfall, particularly on Sunday when a marginal risk for excessive rainfall is in effect. Forecasters note the highest uncertainty lies inland across the Brush Country, where totals could vary widely but may still be locally heavy.
Communities from Port Aransas and Corpus Christi to Kingsville and Refugio are expected to see steady rainfall, with some areas potentially receiving more than 2 inches. Farther west, Laredo and the Brush Country could see less consistent totals but still face the possibility of flash flooding.
Officials remind drivers not to cross flooded roads, urging: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” Emergency managers stress that even shallow water can sweep away vehicles.
Rain chances will remain elevated into early Monday before gradually decreasing. Additional advisories may be issued if rainfall intensifies overnight.
