Corpus Christi, TX – Drivers across Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend should prepare for changing roadway conditions as rain chances return Tuesday and Wednesday, increasing the risk of slick roads and reduced visibility during daily commutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a cold front approaching the region is expected to stall, allowing moisture to build and bringing rain chances between 20% and 75% through midweek. While severe weather is not expected, periods of rain could impact morning and evening travel, especially on busy corridors such as I-37, SH-358 (SPID), and US-77.

Forecasters say Tuesday will see rain chances around 20–30%, with high temperatures ranging from 63 to 68 degrees. Rain coverage may increase Wednesday, when chances climb as high as 75%, with highs warming into the upper 60s to low 70s. Overnight lows will remain mild, generally in the 50s, which could allow slick spots to persist during early morning hours.

While flooding is not anticipated, officials warn that wet pavement can significantly increase stopping distances, particularly during heavier showers or periods of steady rain. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, increase following distance, and use headlights when visibility drops.

Conditions are expected to improve slightly Thursday, with warmer temperatures in the 70s and lower rain chances, before additional rain chances return late week into Saturday.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts, especially if travel plans include early morning or late evening driving during the wettest periods.
