Corpus Christi, Texas – A combination of freezing inland temperatures and hazardous marine conditions is impacting South Texas this weekend as multiple weather alerts remain in effect across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for Gulf waters out to 60 nautical miles through 2 p.m. Saturday. North winds of 20 to 25 knots, with gusts up to 30 knots, are producing rough seas of 5 to 8 feet. Officials warn that these conditions are dangerous for small craft, and inexperienced mariners are strongly advised to remain in port.

On land, cold weather alerts continue across the Inland Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads. A Freeze Warning is in effect for the inland Victoria Crossroads through 8 a.m. Saturday, where low temperatures between 30 and 32 degrees are expected. A Cold Weather Advisory remains in place for the northern Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m., with wind chills dropping as low as 19 degrees.

Farther south and west, a Freeze Watch is in effect late tonight into Sunday morning for the Inland Coastal Plains and Brush Country. Forecast lows may fall to around 25 degrees, with wind chills as low as 18 degrees in some areas.

These cold conditions pose risks to people, pets, plants, and exposed pipes. Residents are urged to take precautions by bringing pets indoors, protecting sensitive vegetation, and insulating or dripping pipes to prevent freezing damage.

Travelers along major roadways including U.S. Highway 77, State Highway 35, and U.S. Highway 59 should be prepared for bitter early-morning cold, particularly if stranded or outdoors for extended periods.

Marine conditions are expected to gradually improve later Saturday afternoon, while inland temperatures may remain cold into Sunday morning. Officials stress that both land and marine hazards should be taken seriously until all advisories, watches, and warnings expire.
