Corpus Christi, Texas – Coastal flooding, dangerous rip currents, and hazardous seas will threaten the Middle Texas Coast through early Saturday morning, as high surf and strong southeast winds continue to push toward the shoreline.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a Coastal Flood Advisory and High Rip Current Risk remain in effect through 9 a.m. Saturday, spanning from Baffin Bay to Port Aransas. Wave heights are reaching 6 to 10 feet offshore, with nearshore breakers between 6 and 8 feet. Meanwhile, a Small Craft Advisory is also in place until Saturday morning, with winds from the southeast at 20–25 knots creating treacherous boating conditions.
Coastal communities including Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, and Rockport may experience minor beach erosion and brief coastal inundation during high tide tonight. Rip current threats extend along all Gulf-facing beaches in the advisory area and are expected to linger through Saturday evening.
Boaters operating smaller vessels should avoid open waters, while beachgoers are urged to stay out of the surf, especially near jetties and piers. Local emergency officials recommend monitoring tide schedules and heeding posted warning flags.
Conditions could worsen again this weekend if tropical activity increases in the Gulf.
