Corpus Christi, Texas – Dense fog reducing visibility to one-quarter mile or less is impacting parts of the Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads early Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 9 a.m. CST for inland portions of the Coastal Plains and Victoria Crossroads. While some areas along the Coastal Bend were initially fog-free, forecasters say fog is expected to continue developing overnight and into the morning hours.

Land-based visibility may fall below one-quarter mile at times, creating hazardous driving conditions. Motorists along I-37, US-59, US-77, US-181 and TX-35 should prepare for sudden drops in visibility, especially in low-lying areas and near bodies of water.

Officials advise drivers to slow down, increase following distance and use low-beam headlights. Delaying travel may also be considered where visibility becomes significantly restricted.

Mariners navigating bays and nearshore waters should use caution as fog may also reduce marine visibility.

Visibility conditions can vary significantly over short distances, with clearer stretches quickly transitioning into dense fog banks.

For early morning commuters and school transportation routes, the greatest impacts are expected before mid-morning as fog gradually improves after sunrise.
