Corpus Christi, Texas — Sunny skies and mild temperatures will provide favorable beach and travel conditions across the Coastal Bend as New Year’s Eve transitions into New Year’s Day.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, New Year’s Eve beach conditions will feature highs in the mid-60s, light north winds around 5 mph, and a low risk of rip currents. While the rip current risk is low, officials stress that low risk does not mean no risk, particularly near piers and jetties.

Wave heights are expected to remain 1 to 2 feet, with water temperatures in the mid-60s. High tide times Wednesday afternoon include 3:40 p.m. CST at Bob Hall Pier and 3:37 p.m. CST at Port Aransas.

Beach-access roadways including SH-361 (Port Aransas), Park Road 22, Ocean Drive, and SH-358 (SPID) are expected to remain dry and clear, with no weather-related travel impacts anticipated for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Visibility will remain good along US-181 and US-77 as well.

Overnight into New Year’s Day, conditions remain quiet with mostly clear skies, overnight lows in the lower 50s, and continued light winds. Thursday is forecast to be warmer, with highs ranging from the low to upper 70s, supporting continued beach and outdoor activity.

The National Weather Service advises beachgoers to swim near lifeguards, avoid swimming alone, and remain cautious near jetties despite the low rip current risk.
