Corpus Christi, Texas – Near-freezing temperatures are possible in Corpus Christi late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, marking the coldest conditions of the season so far.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, a strong cold front will move through South Texas late Friday night, followed by clearing skies and lighter winds. These conditions will allow temperatures to fall efficiently overnight, with lows near 32 degrees possible around sunrise Sunday.
Forecast guidance shows a medium to high chance (40–70%) of freezing temperatures across inland South Texas, with lower but notable chances along the coast, including the Corpus Christi area. Wind chills early Sunday morning may dip into the upper 20s to low 30s, increasing cold exposure concerns.
The coldest window is expected between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday, when temperatures bottom out before sunrise. Even brief freezing conditions can damage sensitive plants, impact outdoor plumbing, and pose risks to pets left outside.
While no winter precipitation is expected with this event, residents are urged to prepare now by covering plants, bringing pets indoors, and checking cold-weather precautions for outdoor items.
Temperatures are expected to rebound later Sunday afternoon, but chilly conditions may linger into early next week.
Residents should continue monitoring forecast updates as small temperature changes could determine whether a freeze occurs in the city.
