CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi issued a Freeze Warning early Tuesday for areas from La Salle to Victoria counties, with temperatures expected to drop to between 30 and 32 degrees through 8 a.m.
Forecasters said mainly rural and low-lying drainage areas will be the most susceptible to freezing temperatures for about two hours. Clear skies, calm winds and dew points below freezing are contributing to rapid overnight cooling.
Residents are urged to protect people, pets, plants and pipes from the cold. Outdoor pipes should be wrapped, and pets and sensitive plants should be brought indoors.
Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing shortly after sunrise, with dry and clear conditions continuing through the morning.
