Corpus Christi, Texas – Hazy skies and sweltering heat will linger across South Texas through Friday as a new plume of Saharan Dust drifts into the region, reducing air quality and keeping rain chances low.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, daytime highs will climb into the upper 80s and low 100s, with rain chances slowly rising from 15% Thursday to 60% by Saturday. Winds from the south will stay steady at 10 to 15 mph, and UV levels are expected to remain in the extreme category, posing a serious risk of sunburn in under 10 minutes.
Beachgoers should be aware that although the rip current risk is currently low, hazards still exist near piers and jetties. Wave heights are around two feet, and water temperatures are sitting in the mid-80s. Swimmers are urged to follow safety protocols, including swimming near lifeguards and avoiding strong currents.
Rain chances peak over the weekend with scattered thunderstorms possible Saturday and Sunday. Conditions will begin to dry out early next week, though highs near 100° will persist into Monday.
Stay hydrated, limit sun exposure during peak hours, and monitor air quality updates as Saharan Dust remains in the atmosphere.
