Cornelius, OR – A tense standoff in Cornelius Tuesday afternoon ended without injury after deputies say a man allegedly pointed a gun at a caller and then barricaded himself inside a home.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 1:47 p.m. on November 4 to the 1000 block of South Alpine Street after a report of an armed suspect. As deputies arrived, the man retreated inside the residence and refused to come out.
Deputies requested backup from the Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT) and Crisis Negotiations Unit (CNU) to manage the situation. After negotiations failed, TNT members used an explosive breach to enter the home. Officials say 41-year-old Luis Cambron-Flores exited shortly after and was taken into custody without further incident.
Cambron-Flores was arrested on charges of felony driving while suspended, menacing, and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Washington County. Deputies later discovered the weapon was an airsoft pistol and that the suspect had been driving with a lifetime revoked license.
Authorities confirmed no one was injured during the incident. Anyone who witnessed the situation is urged to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 and reference case number 57-25-1146.
