Lakeside, OR – A domestic dispute call in Lakeside on Monday night resulted in a man being tased and arrested after allegedly resisting deputies, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the department, the incident began around 7 p.m. on November 10 when Sergeant Boswell responded to a residence in Lakeside for a report of an ongoing domestic disturbance. When the sergeant arrived, he spoke with individuals involved in the dispute and attempted to arrest the man identified as 33-year-old Rocky Mathews.

Deputies said Mathews allegedly refused to comply and took a “fighting stance” toward Sergeant Boswell. According to the sheriff’s office, the sergeant drew his Taser and ordered Mathews to the ground. Officials said Mathews then allegedly charged toward the sergeant. Boswell deployed the Taser, subduing Mathews long enough to place him in handcuffs, the department reported. No additional force was required, and the arrest was completed without further incident.

The sheriff’s office stated that Mathews was medically evaluated following the Taser deployment, which is standard procedure. After being cleared, he was transported to the Coos County Jail. Jail records show Mathews was booked on charges of Harassment (Domestic), Menacing (Domestic), and Resisting Arrest.

No injuries to deputies were reported, and authorities did not release additional details about the individuals involved in the domestic dispute.

Residents in the Lakeside and greater Coos County area are encouraged to contact local law enforcement if they witness domestic disturbances or see developing safety concerns in their neighborhoods.
