Berlin, N.H. – Residents in northern New Hampshire and western Maine should prepare for a sharp overnight chill, with temperatures dipping low enough to trigger a Frost Advisory early Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, areas of frost are expected to form between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday across Coos County, New Hampshire, and Oxford County, Maine. Low temperatures could fall to around 34 degrees, cold enough to damage or kill unprotected plants.

Berlin, Lancaster, Colebrook, and surrounding towns are included in the advisory, as well as communities across the Maine border such as Upton, Andover, and Roxbury. Homeowners are urged to cover late-summer gardens, move potted plants indoors, and protect any sensitive vegetation before nightfall.

Travel is not expected to be affected, but the sudden shift to near-freezing temperatures could be a preview of the broader seasonal change, with longer nights and cooler mornings setting in across the North Country.

The Frost Advisory remains in effect through 8 a.m. Tuesday, and additional advisories are possible later this week if clear skies and calm winds return overnight.
