Roseburg, OR – Temperatures dropping to near or below freezing overnight are expected to trigger frost across southern Oregon, putting plants and crops at risk before sunrise Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a Frost Advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday for the south central Oregon coast and central Douglas County. Temperatures will fall to around 32°F in areas like Roseburg and Coos Bay, with colder pockets near Glendale and Tiller dropping as low as 30°F.

Communities including North Bend, Myrtle Point, Sutherlin, and Canyonville may see widespread frost develop in low-lying and sheltered areas. Inland valleys are most vulnerable, where cold air settles overnight.

Sensitive vegetation, early spring crops, and gardens face the greatest risk of damage if left unprotected during the coldest hours just before sunrise.

Residents should cover plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and take precautions before going to bed. Temperatures will rise after mid-morning Friday, but additional chilly nights remain possible into the weekend.
