Tucson, Arizona – Cooler temperatures and increasing chances for rain are expected across southern Arizona as the region heads into the weekend and early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, Friday will be slightly cooler compared to the start of the week, with high temperatures generally in the upper 60s to low 70s across much of the region.

Cities such as Tucson, Marana, and Green Valley are expected to see highs near 70 degrees, while communities at higher elevations including Oracle, Sierra Vista, and parts of Graham County may remain in the low to mid-60s.

Forecasters say light westerly breezes will also develop during the day, contributing to the cooler feel across southern Arizona.

While Friday and Saturday are expected to remain mostly dry, rain chances will begin increasing Sunday and continue into the start of the new week as a weather system moves into the region.

Forecast data shows precipitation chances rising significantly Sunday into Monday, with some communities seeing rain probabilities between 50% and 70% during the peak of the system.

Areas across Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz, and Graham counties could see scattered showers as the system moves through.

Cities including Tucson, Benson, Nogales, Douglas, and Sierra Vista may see some of the better chances for measurable rainfall during this period.

While widespread heavy rainfall is not currently expected, periods of showers could bring beneficial moisture to the region, which has experienced mostly dry conditions in recent weeks.

Meteorologists say the highest rain chances will likely occur Sunday afternoon through Monday, before gradually decreasing early next week as the system moves out of the area.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates, as rain chances and timing could shift slightly over the coming days.
