Minneapolis, Minn. – Minnesota is getting its first taste of fall this weekend as a sharp cooldown sweeps across the state, sending daytime highs into the 60s and overnight lows into the 40s. The cooler stretch begins Saturday and lingers through Tuesday, with some of the chilliest nights expected Monday and Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, much of central and southern Minnesota will see highs in the mid-60s Sunday and Monday, with overnight temperatures dipping as low as the mid-40s in places like Mankato, Red Wing, and Saint Cloud. The metro area will hold slightly warmer, with lows in the upper 40s and highs topping out near 67 by Tuesday afternoon.
Campers and early-morning commuters should be prepared for jacket weather, especially west and north of the Twin Cities where Alexandria, Mora, and Ladysmith could see early morning lows as low as 42 degrees. Outdoor evening events will also feel notably cooler compared to recent weeks.
The cool spell is not expected to bring frost, but residents are urged to plan ahead for chilly mornings and to keep an eye on updated forecasts in case of additional advisories.
