Birmingham, Ala. – After weeks of sweltering August heat, Alabama is about to catch a break. A cold front moving through the Southeast will drop temperatures below normal for this time of year starting early next week, bringing drier air and long-awaited relief.
According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, the cooldown will stretch across much of Alabama and surrounding states beginning Monday. Daytime highs are expected to fall several degrees below average, especially in central and northern parts of the state. Cities such as Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa should notice the difference as early as Tuesday, while southern Alabama will also see lower humidity levels.
The weather service cautions that this pattern will not mark the end of summer. “While the upcoming cool down will offer a nice break, remember that it’s still August in the Southeast. We’ll likely see temperatures climb back up,” forecasters noted.
Residents are encouraged to enjoy the cooler stretch but remain prepared for a return to hot, humid conditions by late next week.
