Louisville, Ky. – Scattered thunderstorms are expected across central Kentucky this afternoon, but relief is finally in sight as a stretch of cooler, less humid air moves in by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, highs today will peak between 85° and 93°, with storms developing in the afternoon and early evening. The unsettled weather will clear out overnight, making way for gradually cooler temperatures and more pleasant humidity levels starting Friday.

From Friday through Sunday, high temperatures will range from 80° to 86°, with most areas seeing partly sunny skies and drier conditions. Friday will begin with clouds but clear throughout the day. Saturday is expected to bring more sunshine than clouds, making it the most comfortable day of the stretch. By Sunday, a few scattered showers or storms may return, though widespread impacts are not expected.

Drivers should watch for slick roads during today’s downpours and secure outdoor items that could be affected by gusty winds or brief lightning. With temperatures trending below seasonal averages, it’s a good weekend for outdoor activities—just keep an eye on Sunday’s pop-up rain chances.

Conditions will remain seasonably mild into early next week, with no excessive heat in sight for now.
