Cookeville, TN – The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for the Cumberland Plateau and Upper Middle Tennessee, warning drivers of visibility reduced to one-quarter mile or less early Saturday morning.
The advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. CST, impacting counties including Putnam, Fentress, Cumberland, White, Warren, Grundy, Van Buren, and Pickett. Cities such as Cookeville, Crossville, McMinnville, and Jamestown are expected to see thick fog along major routes including Highway 111, I-40, and State Route 56.
Meteorologists warn that the fog could make travel hazardous, especially in valleys and rural areas where cold air has settled overnight. Drivers are urged to slow down, keep headlights on, and increase following distances.
Conditions are expected to improve by mid-morning as fog gradually lifts with the rising sun.
This advisory comes as calm winds and lingering moisture created ideal conditions for widespread fog formation overnight, typical of early November weather in the region.
