Tinley Park, IL – Police, fire, and emergency crews in Tinley Park responded to a life-threatening situation early Thursday, Oct. 16, when a man went into full cardiac arrest in the middle of the southbound lanes of LaGrange Road over Interstate 80.

According to the Village of Tinley Park Public Safety Department, officers arrived shortly after 6 a.m. to find an unconscious and non-responsive man inside a locked vehicle with the windows rolled up. Officers used a glass-break tool to gain entry, removed the man from the vehicle, and began lifesaving measures.

Police applied an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and performed CPR until the man regained responsiveness. He was stabilized at the scene and transported by emergency medical personnel to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Officials credited the coordinated teamwork between police, fire, and EMS units for saving the man’s life. The department publicly praised first responders for their “quick response, teamwork, and dedication to duty.”

Residents traveling near LaGrange Road during the morning rush may have experienced brief delays as emergency crews worked the scene.
