Cook County, IL – A routine speeding stop on Interstate 94 early Sunday morning led to a gun charge for a North Chicago man, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said that around 12:35 a.m. on Sept. 29, an officer pulled over a gray Chevrolet Equinox near the Old Orchard Road exit after observing it traveling at a high speed. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Timothy Dickson of North Chicago, allegedly had a suspended license.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Dickson was taken into custody, and a search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm with an extended magazine. Officials said Dickson did not possess a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card or Concealed Carry License.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and driving on a suspended license, as well as being cited for speeding. Dickson appeared in court later that day at the Skokie Courthouse, where he was released from custody.

Authorities reminded the public that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
