Homewood, IL – Drivers in Homewood are facing early morning delays Tuesday as 175th Street remains closed in both directions due to an overnight office building fire.
According to the Village of Homewood Police Department, the closure affects the 900 block of 175th Street. Firefighters extinguished the blaze earlier this morning, but emergency personnel are still on scene as of 5 a.m. assessing the area and ensuring safety.
Police have asked motorists to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice. Detours are expected to remain in place while cleanup and investigation continue.
The extent of the damage to the building has not yet been released, and no injuries have been reported at this time. Updates are expected later Tuesday morning as crews clear the roadway.
