Chicago, IL – Authorities in Cook County are again asking the public for help in solving a decades-old missing persons case involving a child last seen in 1979.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Pamela Gilmore was 4 years old when she disappeared on March 6, 1979, from her residence in the 2200 block of North Campbell Avenue in Chicago. Investigators said the child allegedly wandered away from her home after being left unattended. She was not officially reported missing until March 10, 1979.

The Sheriff’s Office has highlighted Gilmore’s case as part of its ongoing Missing Persons Project, which revisits long-unsolved investigations in the hopes of uncovering new leads. Authorities provided a current age progression estimate, noting that Gilmore would be 50 years old today. She is described as a Black female with brown eyes and brown hair.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about Gilmore’s disappearance to come forward, no matter how small the detail may seem. “Even the smallest tip could make a difference,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in a recent release.

Anyone with information can contact the Cook County Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit at 773-674-9490 or email ccso.missingpersons@ccsheriff.org.
