Sheriff’s Police were working with Norfolk Southern Railroad Police when a drone spotted three men dressed in black breaking into containers and unloading boxes into nearby bushes.
Sheriff’s Police said officers attempted to take the group into custody, but all three men ran. One man was caught by Sheriff’s deputies, while a second was apprehended with assistance from Norfolk Southern Police. The third man reportedly fled in a black Tesla, which struck a Sheriff’s squad car as it sped away.
Authorities identified those arrested as 32-year-old Jarry Hall of Matteson and 34-year-old Roderick Pickens of Chicago. Both men were charged with Class 3 felony burglary, as well as misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and damage to railroad property.
Officials said both defendants were released from custody following their initial court appearances. The Sheriff’s Office reminded the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
