Cook County, IL – Berkeley Fugitive Arrested After Armed Robbery Warrant in Champaign County

Cook County, IL – A 19-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Champaign was arrested this week after a coordinated effort by Cook County authorities and U.S. Marshals.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Reed, 19, was taken into custody on Sept. 11 following surveillance in the 5400 block of North Bohlander Avenue in Berkeley. Investigators had identified Reed as the subject of an arrest warrant connected to the Champaign case.

While monitoring the residence on Sept. 10, investigators observed a man matching Reed’s description leaving the home. Deputies stopped him, confirmed his identity, and placed him under arrest. Reed was booked into Cook County Jail, where he remained until Sept. 15, when Champaign County authorities took custody.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. No additional details about the Champaign armed robbery investigation were released.

This arrest was carried out by the Cook County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit with support from the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Task Force.
