Park Forest, IL – A first-degree murder charge has been filed in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred earlier this year in Park Forest, bringing a major update to a case that has remained under investigation for months.

According to the Park Forest Police Department, on December 22, 2025, Camarion Reed-Bell, 21, of Chicago Heights, was formally charged with one count of First Degree Murder in the killing of Kevin M. Miller Jr.

Police say the shooting occurred on May 15, 2025, in the 0–100 block of Krotiak Road in Park Forest, a south suburban community in Cook County, located just south of Chicago. Investigators allege Miller, a 26-year-old Dolton resident, was shot during an altercation between individuals who were known to one another. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following what authorities described as an extensive investigation, detectives from the Park Forest Police Department’s Investigations Division worked alongside the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force to identify Reed-Bell as a suspect in the homicide.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the first-degree murder charge on December 22. At the time, Reed-Bell was already being held by the Cook County Department of Corrections on unrelated charges. He later appeared for a first-appearance court hearing and was ordered detained pending further court proceedings, according to police.

The Park Forest Police Department emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Police also extended condolences to Miller’s family and friends and thanked partnering law enforcement agencies for their assistance.
