Conway, NH – New Hampshire State Police are investigating a crash between a Conway Police Department cruiser and a privately-owned SUV Monday evening on White Mountain Highway.

According to state police, the crash occurred around 7:14 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, near Eastman Road in Conway. Investigators say Officer James Zimmer, 26, of the Conway Police Department, had been driving northbound when he attempted to make a U-turn to follow a vehicle that appeared to commit a traffic violation.

While making the U-turn, Zimmer’s cruiser was struck by a 2020 Hyundai Kona driven by Jessica Szymanski, 49, also of Conway. The impact caused visible damage to both vehicles.

Neither Zimmer nor Szymanski was injured, and both declined medical attention at the scene. The roadway was closed for about 20 minutes while crews cleared debris and removed the damaged vehicles.

Conway police and fire departments assisted at the scene. State Police Trooper Caleb Savard is leading the investigation and asks anyone with information to email him.
