LEXINGTON, NC – A Davidson County investigation into an alleged large-scale construction fraud has led to 50 felony charges against a Trinity man accused of taking deposits for building projects that were never completed.
According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division began a fraud investigation earlier this year involving Triad Carports and Metal Structures, Inc., doing business as Triad Carports, located at 1961 E. U.S. Highway 64 in Lexington. Investigators have so far identified 48 victims allegedly defrauded out of money for unfulfilled construction work.
Authorities said the company’s president and majority stockholder, Jesse Allen Black, 53, of Trinity, allegedly accepted deposits totaling approximately $620,000 for buildings and structures that were never completed. On October 2, 2025, Black was charged with four additional counts of obtaining property by false pretense, connected to deposits totaling $40,955.
Black, who was already on pre-trial release following an earlier arrest on June 2, 2025, was released again on a $5,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in Davidson District Court in Lexington on November 13, 2025, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials emphasized that bond decisions are set by judicial authorities under North Carolina General Statute 15A-532, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office stated the investigation remains ongoing and could involve additional victims or charges.
