Connecticut – Commuters across the Nutmeg State could face slick stretches on major highways as light snow chances increase through the final stretch of the month.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across New England are projected to remain near seasonal averages from Sunday through Thursday, while precipitation odds lean above normal. With cold air holding in place, that pattern favors periodic snow showers instead of steady rain.

Hartford and communities along I-91 may see light but steady snow at times, enough to coat untreated secondary roads and overpasses. Along the shoreline, including New Haven, Bridgeport and Stamford, brief coastal-enhanced snow showers could reduce visibility quickly, especially during the early morning commute along I-95 and the Merritt Parkway. While widespread heavy accumulation is not expected, even minor coatings can create spinouts on bridges and exit ramps.

Connecticut DOT crews may need to treat elevated roadways overnight. Drivers should allow extra travel time, check tire tread and keep emergency supplies in vehicles as conditions can shift quickly with passing snow bands.

Additional updates may follow as winter lingers across Connecticut through Thursday.
