New York, NY – A powerful winter storm is expected to blanket parts of the Northeast with up to 8 inches of snow Sunday. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch Friday, warning of hazardous travel conditions across Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm is forecast to begin Sunday afternoon, with snowfall intensifying during the evening hours. Total snow accumulations could range from 5 to 8 inches. The affected areas include northern Fairfield, New Haven, and Middlesex counties in Connecticut, as well as eastern and western Bergen County in New Jersey. Portions of Orange, Putnam, and Rockland counties in New York are also under the watch.

Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for dangerous travel. Roads, bridges, and overpasses are likely to become slick. Officials advise postponing travel unless absolutely necessary. Drivers should ensure their vehicles are winterized and allow extra time for commutes.

The Winter Storm Watch remains in effect through late Sunday night.
