Hartford, CT – The outer edge of a migrating heat dome is set to bring a stretch of mild, above-normal warmth to Connecticut within days, along with periodic rain chances that could impact travel through early April.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Connecticut falls within a 50 to 60 percent probability of above-normal temperatures from April 3 through April 9, paired with a 40 to 50 percent chance of above-normal precipitation. Highs in Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport are expected to reach the mid-70s to near 80 degrees, running several degrees above seasonal averages.

Unlike areas farther south, Connecticut remains on the northern fringe of the heat dome, where the influence of warmer air is less intense. This setup allows for more variable conditions, with intervals of sunshine mixed with passing systems bringing scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms.

Rain chances will be less widespread than in the Midwest, but periods of heavier rain could still impact major routes including I-95, I-91, and I-84, leading to brief reductions in visibility during commutes.

Residents can expect comfortable spring warmth but should remain prepared for quick changes in weather, especially during afternoon and evening hours.

This pattern is expected to persist through April 3–9, with additional updates likely as the heat dome shifts and rain chances evolve.
