Willington, CT – A burglary attempt at a Mobile Gas Station near Exit 70 in Willington caused heavy damage early Saturday morning, after suspects allegedly tried to steal an ATM using a U-Haul truck.

According to the Connecticut State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 1:53 a.m. on September 20. Surveillance video shows two suspects backing a U-Haul truck up to the gas station before racing inside with a heavy harness cable. The suspects allegedly wrapped the cable around an ATM and attempted to pull it free by accelerating away.

The strap reportedly came loose during the attempt, disconnecting and shattering windows in the process. The ATM remained in place, but the gas station sustained significant property damage. Police said the suspects then fled the scene in the U-Haul.

At this time, authorities have not released information regarding the registration or ownership of the U-Haul truck. Troopers are urging anyone with information about the burglary to contact Trooper Citlak at 860-896-3200, extension 8056.

The investigation remains ongoing.
