A reported stabbing outside a state facility in Concord on Saturday morning was determined to involve a person experiencing a mental health crisis, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Troopers responded around 8:45 a.m. to the parking lot of the Department of Environmental Services at 29 Hazen Drive after receiving reports of an injured person on the ground.
According to authorities, the victim’s injuries were self-inflicted, and there was no imminent threat to the public or nearby state facilities. The individual, who is not a state employee, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Concord Fire Department and Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
State Police reminded the public that mental health resources are available and encouraged those in crisis to call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 9-8-8.
