San Angelo, Texas – Heavy rainfall is expected to build across Central and West-Central Texas this weekend, with the greatest threat arriving Saturday night into early Monday. The National Weather Service says chances have increased to between 40% and 70% for at least one inch of rain across the region, raising the risk of localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, the highest rainfall potential includes the Concho Valley and areas south and east toward Sonora, Junction, Brady, and Saba. Forecasters caution that some pockets could see heavier totals where storms repeat over the same locations.

Roadway flooding, especially on low-water crossings and rural routes, may become an issue late Saturday into Sunday. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and to prepare for slower travel times. Emergency managers also recommend charging devices and securing outdoor items in advance of the storms.

Rain chances will linger into Monday morning before tapering off. Additional flood advisories could be issued if rainfall intensity increases.
