Columbus, Ohio – Strong wind gusts up to 45 mph could impact travel and outdoor activities Tuesday afternoon as near-record warmth builds across central and southwest Ohio.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures will surge into the upper 70s to lower 80s Tuesday, with cities like Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati reaching 80 to 82°F. At the same time, west-central Ohio, including areas near Celina, Sidney, and Marysville, could see the strongest wind gusts between 40 and 45 mph, especially during the afternoon hours.
Winds across the I-70 and I-75 corridors may make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles, with gusts also capable of blowing around unsecured outdoor objects. Even in southern Ohio, including Chillicothe and Portsmouth, gusts of 25 to 35 mph are expected.
Monday remains milder with highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s, but conditions quickly intensify by Tuesday as warmer air and stronger winds move in.
Secure loose items like patio furniture and trash bins, and use caution when driving, especially on open roadways. Gusty conditions will persist through Tuesday evening, with additional updates possible if wind speeds increase.
